Friends

Home page

With a little help from your friends.

Youv'e gotta have friends, sorry, another song title, but its true. Friends back home have helped us manage the things in life that are difficult or impossible to do any other way. As we live our life currently outside of the 'box' all those annoying organisations, like the council, tax man, bank etc.etc are kept satisfied.

Spares are a major problem in some places, so aquiring these items in the UK and shipping them out is a often the easiest solution. Many friends have helped in other ways, some have helped with odd jobs on the boat before we left, others simply keep in touch by phone and email which is really nice. We'd like to say a big thank you to all those that have helped us in some small or large way.THANK YOU

Below are the people who deserve a special thank you, if only because they are still helping us!

Peter Gage

Kevin's closest friend of over 20 years, takes our calls with updates of our position in case something unfortunate happens. Its nice to know that some one is watching your back for you. Peter loves a good comic moment, I'd like to have seen his face when he opened our replacement loo to discover the china bowl shattered. Who said life's a shit, not for us a moment!!!! Cheers pal.

Jon Stokes

A fellow ipswich (home port) boat owner has been providing weather updates via the iridium phone. Getting accurate and up to date weather forecasts in a language you can understand hundreds of miles from land is a great bonus. Hearing Jon's voice on the iridium phone telling us all the forecasts were showing Force 4 whilst we were in the middle of our second Biscay gale was a funny moment, well sort of. Thanks Jon.

Bev Conway

Sara's friend of many years, keeps track of all the serious stuff, like the mail and bank statements and any bills. An important person to have in the background if everything is to go to plan. Keep pp,ing for us. Ta Bev.

John Hill

We introduced John & Dawn to sailing a few summers ago. We enjoyed a sailing holiday in Greece together, which much amused Dawn & Kevin who worked together at the time, you can imagine the gossip when it became known we were going on holiday together. John kindly used up some of his holiday time to help us for a few days during fitting out. When you coming out guys, there's plenty left to fix and sunshine too!!! Grateful thanks John.

Other boat owners at Fox’s – In particular Billy, Anthony, Simon, John, Colin and last but not least Barry. Thanks for all your advice, help and encouragement. And of course Steve and his crew at Fox's Yacht Club for the hot breakfasts on cold winter mornings.
